A Newly Discovered Crocodile-Shaped Island

Guimaras' Inampulugan: A Newly Discovered Crocodile-Shaped Island

Inampulugan Island is found at the southwest of the eastern coast of Guimaras mainland. It is described as a crocodile-shaped island and is only around 30-45 minutes by boat from Sabang or San Isidro.

Inampulugan is derived from the words “ina” for “mother” and “pulo” which means “island.” It is the biggest out of the three islands near the Guimaras mainland.

On the island, there’s a resort for those who would like to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. The power is only on from 11:30am-1:30pm and 5:30pm-6:30pm. Mobile network signals only come from certain spots of the resort.

The island is covered mostly with hardwood trees. There are also flowering trees and other wild plants. If you get lucky you’ll also get to see wild deer, monkeys and birds that roam around the deep vegetation of the island.

Then there’s a pond where you can interact with six hawksbill turtles.

The eco-tourism island resort currently has 68 bamboo and nipa cottages but also has ongoing construction for more. Each room can accommodate a maximum of 4 persons. You don’t need to worry about where to eat as there’s a restaurant that serves delicious meals. And, if you don’t feel like swimming at the beach, you can just take a dip at the pool. And if you’re still looking for something else fun to do at the island, just ask the staff: most of them are residents, and will definitely know a thing or two about the island!
